A hammer union seal is a critical component used in the connection of pipes and equipment in the oil and gas industry, as well as other high-pressure applications. The primary function of the seal is to ensure a leak-proof joint between two sections of piping or between a pipe and a variety of equipment, such as valves, pumps, and manifolds.
Hammer unions are classified based on pressure ratings and intended applications (e.g., low-pressure, high-pressure, sour gas service).
Common types include FIG1502, FIG1002, and FIG602, which denote the pressure rating and design family.
Application:
1.Oil and Gas: Used extensively in drilling, fracturing, and production operations. They connect flow lines, choke and kill lines, and other high-pressure lines.
2.Industrial: Also found in industries where high-pressure fluid transfer is necessary, such as chemical plants and mining operations.
We provide Hammer Union Seals in NBR, HNBR, FKM, PTFE PU, etc.
Material name | Temperature range | Advantage | Deficiency |
NBR(Nitrile, Buna-N) | -40ºC to 120ºC -40ºF to 248ºF |
1.Presently the most widely used rubber in the seal industry 2.Exceptional balance of good mechanical properties, wear properties, and chemical resistance 3.Resistance to most mineral oils and greases |
don't used with gly-based brake fluids and strong acids |
HNBR(Hydrogenated Nitrile) | -40ºC to 160ºC -40ºF to 320ºF |
1.Chemical resistance 2.Wider temperature range than standard nitrile 3.High strength material that resists extrusion, abrasion, and wear 4.Water and steam resistance to +149ºC(+300ºF) 5.H2S resistance up to 10% 6.Commonly used with petroleum oils and co2 |
don't use with chlorinated hydrocarbons, polar solvents, or strong acids |
FKM(Fluorocarbon) | -26ºC to 230ºC -15ºF to 446ºF |
1.Excellent resistance to higher temperature, petroleum, 2.Good chemical resistance, including to refrigerants(R12) 3.Great mechanical properties are retained over a wide temperature range |
Poor resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, polar solvents |
PTFE(Plyetrafuoroethylene) | -268ºC to 250ºC -450ºF to 483ºF |
Vitually universal chemical resistance |
